Anniversaries are celebratory, right?

People participate in the annual March for Life rally on the National Mall in Washington

Well, good news, I have something for you to celebrate! This past Thursday, January 22nd, was the 42nd anniversary of the supreme court decision, Roe vs. Wade, which legalized abortion. Don’t fret, that isn’t exactly what I am rejoicing. On this day in 2015, leaders attempted to pass a bill banning abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy. The bill also declared that incest victims could abort the pregnancy only if they were under 18, and rape victims only if they had reported the crime to police. I’ll let you imagine how much chaos that stirred up between the lady lawmakers in the house. You guessed it, complete turmoil! Once again, this isn’t what I’m delighting myself in either. After that bill was pulled last-minute, it was replaced with one that permanently bans federal funding for abortions as well as blocks tax credits for people or employers who pay for abortion coverage under Affordable Care Act. It is no coincidence that this bill was passed as thousands traveled to Washington D.C. on the day of the annual March for Life. Now, that’s what I’m talking about!
